Escaping the Brothel

We were thrilled to receive an update on Dipti, a former Sister India student. When she was a child, Dipti’s family fled Bangladesh due to war, leaving a comfortable life to live in poverty in an Indian refugee camp. Tragically, because of their dire circumstances, Dipti’s father believed the lies of a trafficker who visited the camp claiming he could give Dipti a better life. She was sold into prostitution and lived her teenage years in a brothel.

Dipti's life took a turn when Sister India started a class for the women in her brothel. Unable to read, write, or count, she quickly embraced learning and excelled in her studies.

Sister India partners recently reconnected with Dipti and are happy to report she is thriving! She’s employed at a nursing home, her two children have completed school and are both gainfully employed, and the family lives far from the Red Light district. This transformation was made possible by supporters like you.

We couldn’t do it without you - thank you!
